This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with
access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our
guests and visitors.

Access Statement for The Red Lion, Food and Rooms by the Sea

Introduction
The Red Lion is located on the North Norfolk Coast in Cromer. Located within 5 minutes walking
distance are a variety of shops, a cinema, restaurants, the Beach and many more attractions.
We offer fourteen en suite bedrooms; Decorated individually, some sea views.
The building is over 250 years old.  Whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are
some period features of the Inn which may make access difficult for people with limited
mobility.The Hotel due to its age and layout does not have a lift.

Pre Arrival
We are located in Cromer High Street, if you are travelling by car, follow the one way system
through the town and take the first left after the Church to access our on-site car
park. Alternatively, you can plan your journey by car or by public transport
using www.travelline.info. Simply enter your postcode and ours (NR27 9HD) to get directions.

The nearest shops are approximately 100m away.
Cromer Railway Station is approximately 400m away; this is the Bittern Line Train which runs to
Sheringham, Norwich and other surrounding villages of North Norfolk. Taxis are available behind
the church about 200m from the Hotel.If you require an accessible taxi, this can be booked in
advance, please speak to Reception where we will be happy to do this for you.
The closest bus stop is 40m away and there is a shelter with seating. Most buses can
accommodate one wheelchair.  The buses run approximately every 20 minutes to local towns
including Holt, Fakenham and Wells-Next-To-The-Sea.  The bus service stops prior to 10.00pm.
Norwich Airport is 45 minutes away by car.

Car Parking and Arrival
The Red Lion has an on-site car park located at the rear of the building with a barrier and key
code pad. Parking here is available and on a first come first served basis. Alternatively, there is
street parking available.
As you enter The Red Lion from the car park, you will come through the conservatory door which
measures at 920mm wide.  This has large tiled flooring.  If you head towards the Reception desk,
there is a second door to go through which is 750mm wide, this can convert to a larger door
which would measure at 1500mm wide, the flooring remains the same to Reception.
If you are entering The Red Lion from the front entrance the front door is 750mm wide with one
step measuring 170mm high followed by another step which is 200mm high.  After the two steps
there is another door which is 780mm wide.  You will then enter our Bar and Lounge Area. 
There is a door out of the Bar area to Reception which is 700mm wide.
Assistance is offered with luggage.

Welcome Area
Guests are welcomed in the hallway, which has large tiled flooring, where they are asked to
check in. The area is well lit with wall lights.

Bedrooms
Our guest rooms are accessed by means of stairs with twenty one 170mm steps to the first floor
and an additional twenty 170mm steps to the second floor. There is a hand rail on one side of the staircase.
Our beds are made with duvets. Our standard pillows are hypo allergenic, however alternatives
are also available.  Please contact Reception before your arrival if you would like any changes
made to your bed.
Rooms are bright and evenly lit. Overhead lighting is controlled by a dimmer switch and there are
also wall lights above some of the beds. Bedside lamps are in every bedroom.
There is seating, bedside tables, a wardrobe and in some rooms a chest of drawers/dressing
table is provided.
In every bedroom there is a digital flat screen television with subtitles.
Superior Rooms have an entrance door which is 780mm wide. The beds are either double or zip
and link (these beds can be made into twin or double beds) the bed height is 600mm.
Suite Room 1 has an entrance door which is 910mm wide. The bed is a double and is 500mm high.
Suite Room 2 has an entrance door which is 800mm wide. It has steps which are 260mm deep
that lead into the bedroom.  The bed is a double and is 390mm high.
Standard Rooms have an entrance door which is 780mm wide. The beds are either double or
zip and link (these beds can be made into twin or double beds) the bed height is 760mm.
Bathrooms & Toilets (En-Suite)
All of our bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. The Superior Rooms have an entrance door to the
en suite bathroom which is 760mm wide. The bath height is 660mm and the toilet height is 400mm.
The entrance door to the en suite bathroom in Suite Room 1 is 1760mm wide.  The bath height is
530mm and the toilet height is 400mm.  There is a separate walk in shower with an 860mm
door.  The cord length for this shower is 1100mm.
The entrance door to the en suite bathroom in Suite Room 2 is 800mm wide.  The bath height is
630mm with a step measuring 150mm.  The toilet height is 440mm.  There is a separate walk in
shower with a step measuring 200mm and 760mm door.
The Standard Rooms have an entrance door to the en suite bathroom which is 670mm wide. 
The bath height is 560mm and the toilet height is 400mm.
Public Areas – Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors
All Public Areas including Halls, Stairs & Corridors are well lit using a combination of ceiling and
wall lights.
There is short pile carpet on the stairs and landings and throughout the corridors upstairs.
There are no steps to the guests Breakfast Room, Restaurant, Bar, Lounge or Toilets.
The building is fully centrally heated throughout but temperatures can be adjusted in each room
to suit individual requirements.
There are automatic audible smoke alarms on the ground floor and in the main and upper halls.

Public Toilets
There are public toilets for our Guests on the ground floor, just past Reception.  The main
entrance door is 830mm.  The door to the gentlemen’s toilet is 750mm and the cubicle is 750mm
wide.  The door to the ladies toilet is 750mm.  The height of all toilets is 400mm.

We have also got a disabled toilet located in the conservatory (near the back entrance to The
Red Lion).  This has a 900mm door with a 400mm high toilet with a pull-down hand rail for
assistance.  There is an 860mm high sink.  This toilet also offers baby changing facilities.

Public Areas – Breakfast Room/Restaurant
There are two entrances to the Restaurant, one is through an 850mm door opposite Reception
and the other is through a large archway with ramp from the Bar. To enter the Bar the door width
is 710mm.
The Restaurant has solid oak flooring.
There is a large sky light which allows plenty of natural light supplemented by adjustable
overhead and wall lights.
There is seating for around 80 people on various table sizes.

Public Areas – Bar/Lounge Area
There are three entrances to the Bar, two are through the front entrances, one 700mm door and
one 780mm door.  The other is through a large archway with a ramp from the Restaurant. To
enter the Bar the door width is 710mm.
The Bar has mosaic tiling as you enter followed by wooden flooring.
There are large windows which allow plenty of natural light supplemented by adjustable
overhead and wall lights.

Additional Information
There are ‘In Case of Fire’ instructions posted on the back of the guest room doors.
There are guest information folders in every bedroom with information on local services including
NHS facilities, travel and local cinemas and theatres.
Free Wi-Fi facilities are available for our residents.
We are happy to cater for special diets.  Please advise us before you arrive if this is required.
We can refrigerate prescription medication for a limited period.
Mobile phone reception is generally good at The Red Lion.
